Healthy Coffee: How I Make It Work for My Health (Without Giving It Up)

If you love coffee like I do, here’s how to choose a healthier, cleaner option that actually supports your body. ☕

I love my coffee not in a rushed, grab-it-and-go kind of way. I genuinely enjoy it. It’s part of my morning rhythm, something I look forward to, and honestly something I’m not willing to give up.

But as someone who works in nutrition and spends my days helping people reduce inflammation, support their gut, and feel better in their bodies… I’ve also had to ask:

Is coffee actually helping us or hurting us?

The answer really comes down to two things: how you respond to the caffeine and what else is coming along with your coffee. Caffeine can absolutely be helpful but like most things, it’s best in moderation. It can support focus, mental clarity, provide antioxidants, and even longevity when done right.

Caffeine aside, the reality is that not all coffee is created equal. And for some people, it’s not the caffeine that’s the issue, it’s everything else in the coffee. Coffee can contain mold, mycotoxins, pesticide residues, heavy metals, and gut irritating compounds created during the roasting process.

That’s why I don’t view coffee as “bad.” As with most things we put into our bodies, quality plays a much bigger role than people often realize.

Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of different brands. I wanted something that:

* Felt good in my body

* Didn’t leave me jittery or wired

* Aligned with how I think about health overall

I've currently landed on Purity Coffee and genuinely love it. Not only does it taste great, I love how they focus on health. They're one of the few companies that does 3rd party testing so you know what you're getting is quality and actually supports your body rather than working against it.

I used to avoid decaf because of how it’s traditionally processed and the potential for chemical residue. Purity uses a Swiss Water Process which has no chemical solvents. So one of my favorites is 2/3 decaf.

Lately, they’ve introduced another decaf option using a natural compound derived from sugarcane. This method is still considered safe and typically preserves more of the flavor.

What works for me and my clients is choosing high-quality healthy coffee, drinking it in a way that supports my energy (not spikes and crashes), pairing it with real food and paying attention to how I feel. I don't think you need to fully eliminate coffee but rather clean up the quality and timing.

I find that when done right, coffee becomes less about jitters and dependency and more about enjoyment and knowing it aligns with your health.

I’m affiliated with Purity because I genuinely use and trust it and I want to support companies doing it this way.
